• Issue: Traffic signal timing / operation The traffic signals controlling the A428 over Mythe Bridge, Tewkesbury would most definitely benefit from a signal timing review. On the approach from the A38 direction, the lights can already be on red at any time of the day or night and often do not change for what feels like an excessive period once a vehicle is waiting. This is particularly problematic during peak hours or periods of high traffic flow, as there is only a short distance between the A38 main road and the bridge. This frequently results in queues forming back towards the A38. By contrast, on the Ledbury approach, where there is a long straight section of road (approximately half a mile), it is possible to encounter a green signal that remains green for the entire length of that approach. For example, I can pull out from the Bushley turning and reach the lights while they remain green throughout. The imbalance between the two approaches appears inefficient and inconsistent, especially given the much shorter stacking distance on the A38 side. I would like to suggest that the signal timings be reviewed to allow a more balanced and flowing operation, similar to how the signals previously operated. In particular, at quieter times of day and overnight, it would be beneficial if the signals reverted to a more responsive setup where they change from red to green when vehicles approach, as they used to. This issue is ongoing rather than occasional and contributes to unnecessary congestion and driver frustration, with potential safety implications.
