Learn why this is important Good afternoon, I am writing on behalf of my cousin Emma Aldred-Tow and her family. Emma has MS and has been wheelchair bound for many years. She is also mother to 2 children who have gone through their primary education at their local schools in Benhall. Emma until recently has also been a teacher. She is a highly regarded member of the local community, fundraising for numerous defibrillators for the local community has been her most recent priority along with promoting Accessible Padel in Gloucestershire . She also remains a volunteer helping at the local junior school, reading with the children on a weekly basis. I see Emma regularly and often accompanied her to pick up her children from the school. I am horrified by the state of the pavements from her home to the school and also to her nearest shopping centre Asda!! In this day and age we should be making it easy and accessible for Emma to remain independent and be able to volunteer, shop and socialise without the danger that she puts herself in every time she leaves the house on her own. I would have provided you a video of what her journey is like from her in her wheelchair- it is too heartbreaking to do!! I truly believe that we should be helping these stalwarts of our community instead of making their lives miserable, impossible and life threatening. I am writing this without Emma’s knowledge but I would really like to know what you and the local council are going to do to help her and her family. I know that in the past her younger son has also written to ask for help with the state of the pavements ! • The smell around the areas and coming up through the pipes is unbearable. We jet water down our drains in the garden but it only works for a day or two. Drains overfilled across the road recently. It’s all linked the system is at least 60 years old and home extensions and other changes over the years, all permitted by local officials presumably…mean my young family are having to deal with possible health concerns and distressing odours every day
