Unsatisfactory repair to pothole adjacent to drain in road
Sent to Gloucestershire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9117708.
This is a pothole that I reported in Dec 2025 I believe ref # 8568539. The pothole was deeper than a tennis ball and has been only half filled as shown in the photo. Why such a poor job was done after my first report is beyond me. Why only half fill the pothole - please explain? Whilst it does not jolt my car as before it is still deep enough to cause problems. I also cycle along this road and try to avoid the hole but I dread to think what damage it would cause if a car forced me or any other cyclist into it.

Thank you for reporting a pothole.
First, a safety inspector will visit the location to assess whether a repair needs to be completed and plan the work needed. Works are prioritised based on the urgency of the situation. The council aim to repair all significant potholes (more than 4cm deep and 30cm wide) within 28 days.
In some cases a temporary repair will be needed, to make the area safe, then engineers will return to make a permanent repair.

This pothole report has now been passed to the Safety Inspection Team for assessment.
A safety inspector will make an assessment of the work needed and they will consider a number of factors, including the flow of traffic and the size of the pothole.
If repair work is required, the pothole will either be classed as urgent or will be put into a planned programme of works to ensure it is repaired as efficiently as possible. We aim to complete the repair work within 28 days.
In some cases a temporary repair will be needed, to make the area safe, then engineers will return to make a permanent repair.
An update on the outcome of the safety inspection will be provided.
