Third time I’ve reported the potholes along Hayden Road in Cheltenham

Reported via iOS in the A pothole in road category anonymously at 18:51, Monday 23 February 2026

Sent to Gloucestershire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8983719.

This is the third time I’ve reported these potholes. I keep getting emails to say they have been fixed but they haven’t. Hayden road is extremely bad for driving along. There are multiple potholes, some are really deep and some are extremely wide, hard to navigate your way thorough. They are in the lane and in the middle of the road along the white line so there is no way of avoiding them. People, including myself, I have also seen 4x4s swerve to avoid them so you can only imagine how bad they are. Someone is either going to have damage caused to their tyres or there is going to be an accident from where people have to swerve. The speed limit along the road is 40mph but to drive down that road safely, people are having to drive less than 10mph. These potholes NEED fixing before someone’s dies or someone has to pay an extortionate amount to get their car fixed. I thought Gloucestershire was green for fixing potholes? Stop lying saying you’ve filled them in when they haven’t even been touched

Updates

  • Thank you for reporting a pothole.

First, a safety inspector will visit the location to assess whether a repair needs to be completed and plan the work needed. Works are prioritised based on the urgency of the situation. The council aim to repair all significant potholes (more than 4cm deep and 30cm wide) within 28 days.

In some cases a temporary repair will be needed, to make the area safe, then engineers will return to make a permanent repair.

We will provide updates about this report.

On our website you can read about five key actions we’re taking to strengthen the county’s roads. Visit www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/highways/roads/potholes to find out more.

Thank you again for taking the time to report this issue.

  • This pothole report has now been passed to the Safety Inspection Team for assessment.

A safety inspector will make an assessment of the work needed and they will consider a number of factors, including the flow of traffic and the size of the pothole.

If repair work is required, the pothole will either be classed as urgent or will be put into a planned programme of works to ensure it is repaired as efficiently as possible. We aim to complete the repair work within 28 days.

In some cases a temporary repair will be needed, to make the area safe, then engineers will return to make a permanent repair.

An update on the outcome of the safety inspection will be provided.
