Parked cars, close to bus stops impeding traffic flow.

There are two problem 1) On Chesterton Lane, by the cemetery, where there are bus stops on opposite sides of the road. Parking is permitted, immediately after the box allotted for busses to stop, on the cemetery side of the road. When the bus stops, on the other side of the road, to pick up passengers, the road is blocked because cars are parked all day, immediately outside the box allotted for busses and directly opposite the bus stop on the opposite side of the road. When the bus is picking up lot of students at the stop, opposite the cemetery, the bus van be stationary for over five minutes.and traffic heading in the direction of the dual carriageway cannot get through the gap between the stationary bus and the parked cars and so there is deadlock until the bus eventually moves on. Parking should not be permitted close to the bus stop, there needs to be double yellow lines extending well beyond the bus stop on the opposite side of the road.

2) In Cranhams Lane, at the western end where it joins Chesterton re are traffic calming humps approx. 50 yards from the junction. Cars are being parked between the humps, close to Shalford Close) and the junction. This means that when vehicles approach the junction with Chesterton Lane, they are forced into the middle of the road in order to overtake the parked cars. Very often, having committed to overtake the parked cars one meets a vehicle turning into Cranhams Lane, from Chesterton Lane, which could obviously not have been seen prior to overtaking and one’s car is therefore now in the middle of the road, facing an oncoming vehicle. This is an accident waiting to happen! Parking should not be permitted between Shalford Close and the junction with Chesterton Lane.
