Subject: Urgent Complaint Regarding Roadworks and Traffic Management.
Dear
I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding the ongoing roadworks at the A38 Crosskeys Roundabout in Quedgeley and the apparent lack of effective traffic management.
On the early morning of 26th November, while returning home from work (travelling from Stonehouse towards Quedgeley), I encountered a complete closure of the Crosskeys Roundabout. Attempting to use Pound Lane, a viable alternative route connecting to Green Lane and Quedgeley, I was surprised to find it also closed. This forced myself and other drivers to take a lengthy detour via the M5 to Junction 11A and the A417, adding approximately 30 minutes to our journeys.
This is not a minor inconvenience. It wastes the time of working residents, increases fuel costs, and unnecessarily raises carbon emissions all for measures that appear designed solely to prevent large vehicles from using Pound Lane. The road could safely accommodate normal-sized vehicles without requiring a full closure.
As a taxpayer, I am concerned that public funds are being spent on roadworks that create avoidable disruption. I am also deeply concerned about the environmental impact of forcing longer journeys for ordinary traffic, particularly during night-time when alternative routes could be safely used.
I therefore submit this formal complaint and request immediate review and improvement of traffic management during these works. Specifically, I strongly urge that Pound Lane be kept open to normal-sized vehicles to reduce delays, fuel waste, and unnecessary environmental impact.
I expect a prompt response outlining what steps will be taken to address this issue.
