Blocked drains (still!)

Reported via mobile in the The drain is blocked category by Barrie Humphries at 11:04, Wed 19 November 2025

Sent to Gloucestershire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8438672.

Two drain on the uphill slope from the Naas lane roundabout towards Kingsway are still blocked even though on my previous report 8383633 you said it had been dealt with. Either you or your contractors are lying. As we go into winter with these drains blocked water will collect on the bridge and roundabout causing a SIGNIFICANT hazard. Please do not close this report until you have either fixed it or tell me you do not consider it with any priority. I will not go away and start escalating through Gloucestershire County Council on anything other than being fixed

Updates

  • Thank you for reporting a drainage or flooding issue.

We will investigate the issue. If additional clearance work is needed, the local highways team will prioritise the most urgent reports. Where possible, maintenance tasks will be grouped together in a schedule for efficiency.

Sometimes during periods of heavy rain, even a clear gully can be overwhelmed. Usually the water will drain away within an hour.

Every gully or drain the county council is responsible for is cleared at least once each year. Some drains in problem areas are cleared more frequently. You can find out more, including the gully emptying schedule on our website by visiting www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/highways/roads/road-maintenance

If your property is at risk of flooding please see the Flood Guide for advice and support by visiting www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/planning-and-environment/flood-risk-management/flooding-information/flood-guide

If you are driving: please never ignore road closures or enter flood water. This could put you or others in danger and invalidate your insurance.

We will provide updates about this report. Thank you again for taking the time to report this issue.
