Huge potholes over 80mm deep in front of Beverston House on Leckhamtpon Lane
Reported via desktop in the A pothole in road category anonymously at 09:00, Wed 12 November 2025
Sent to Gloucestershire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8407346.
Yesterday 11.11.2025 I was driving on Leckhampton Lane in Cheltenham around 19:00, being dark outside and a car coming from opposite way I hit a huge pothole in the road, Instantly felt some noise in the steering wheel and two warning lights came on the dashboard, stopped about 150m away from the pothole in front of a house sign called Linacre, and start videoing going back to see what I've hit. I was surprised to see how big the pothole in road was, very dangerous. I've took photos and a video as well and moved on slowly with hazard lights to the next layby. My car now is off road as is not driveable, not sure yet what is the issue, but I will take it to a garage today. I assume i something to do with the steering... The potholes are in front of Beverston House, The house next to Greylands, and they are about 500mm by 500mm wide and over 80mm deep.

Thank you for reporting a pothole.
First, a safety inspector will visit the location to assess whether a repair needs to be completed and plan the work needed. Works are prioritised based on the urgency of the situation. The council aim to repair all significant potholes (more than 4cm deep and 30cm wide) within 28 days.
In some cases a temporary repair will be needed, to make the area safe, then engineers will return to make a permanent repair.
We will provide updates about this report.

This pothole report has now been passed to the Safety Inspection Team for assessment.
A safety inspector will make an assessment of the work needed and they will consider a number of factors, including the flow of traffic and the size of the pothole.
If repair work is required, the pothole will either be classed as urgent or will be put into a planned programme of works to ensure it is repaired as efficiently as possible. We aim to complete the repair work within 28 days.
In some cases a temporary repair will be needed, to make the area safe, then engineers will return to make a permanent repair.
An update on the outcome of the safety inspection will be provided.

I am pleased to inform you this pothole has been repaired.
Gloucestershire County Council is responsible for almost 6,000km of roads and each one is routinely inspected (on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis, depending on the type of road). Issues can develop quickly in between these inspections and residents help by reporting problems online.
Our longer term plans to improve road conditions include patching, resurfacing and maintenance works, information can be found online at www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/highways.
