The pipe under the road has a blockage in it

Reported via desktop in the The drain is blocked category anonymously at 08:31, Tue 11 November 2025

Sent to Gloucestershire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8402290.

I have reported this several time and each Tim GCC claim it has done work to rectify it - with no evidence that it even attempted to unblock it. You investigated this year apparently - when in drought and the blocked pipe had sufficient capacity to convey the little flow it needed to. Now in the autumn the pipe cannot take the flow of water and levels rise in the gulley to use the overflow. It only take a storm and water pours across the road through the road gulley. THERE IS A BLOCKAGE IN THE PIPE. This is not its normal condition and when unblocked worked fine. Note the photo shows the gulley chamber when its not full of water. today water level is about 3' deep here.

Updates

  • Thank you for reporting a drainage or flooding issue.

We will investigate the issue. If additional clearance work is needed, the local highways team will prioritise the most urgent reports. Where possible, maintenance tasks will be grouped together in a schedule for efficiency.

Sometimes during periods of heavy rain, even a clear gully can be overwhelmed. Usually the water will drain away within an hour.

Every gully or drain the county council is responsible for is cleared at least once each year. Some drains in problem areas are cleared more frequently. You can find out more, including the gully emptying schedule on our website by visiting www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/highways/roads/road-maintenance

If your property is at risk of flooding please see the Flood Guide for advice and support by visiting www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/planning-and-environment/flood-risk-management/flooding-information/flood-guide

If you are driving: please never ignore road closures or enter flood water. This could put you or others in danger and invalidate your insurance.

We will provide updates about this report. Thank you again for taking the time to report this issue.
