The new surface in harbour road has no drains. As a consequence water collects along many areas along the edge closest to the river. The riverbank is higher than the road and has nowhere to go to. With the winter just around the corner if this problem is not fixed the water will freezek and cause damage to the edge of the road. A solution would be to install drains that emptied into the river.

Reported via mobile in the No rain in 24 hours - water has increased or remained the same category anonymously at 13:24, Monday 22 September 2025

Sent to Gloucestershire County Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8162126.

The problem areas are along the new tarmac where the camber of the road sends any rain water towards the side of the road nearest to the river

Updates

  • Thank you for reporting a drainage or flooding issue.

We will investigate the issue. If additional clearance work is needed, the local highways team will prioritise the most urgent reports. Where possible, maintenance tasks will be grouped together in a schedule for efficiency.

Sometimes during periods of heavy rain, even a clear gully can be overwhelmed. Usually the water will drain away within an hour.

Every gully or drain the county council is responsible for is cleared at least once each year. Some drains in problem areas are cleared more frequently. You can find out more, including the gully emptying schedule on our website by visiting www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/highways/roads/road-maintenance

If your property is at risk of flooding please see the Flood Guide for advice and support by visiting www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/planning-and-environment/flood-risk-management/flooding-information/flood-guide

If you are driving: please never ignore road closures or enter flood water. This could put you or others in danger and invalidate your insurance.

We will provide updates about this report. Thank you again for taking the time to report this issue.
