Diversion not working!! HGV driving through village
Reported via mobile in the Information board identifying emergency contact company/number not displayed category anonymously at 10:47, Wednesday 3 September 2025
Sent to Gloucestershire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8112339.
Please note since spring bridge closure on London road- Large heavy HGV not taking notice or too late on detour and driving though east end road/church street/horse fair street/lyefield rd west. This has led to horrific congestion, fumes and long traffic jams. The narrow roads in the centre of Charlton kings are unsuitable for large vehicles. I have seen 5 close accident calls alone in a 20 min walk . 2 where HGVS have gotten stuck trying to navigate around st Mary’s church and by the v narrow merry fellow pub. They had to reverse . This is dangerous during the day but at rush hour and with a large population of 4 schools- it is an accident waiting to happen
