A pothole in road problem
Reported in the A pothole in road category by Gloucestershire County Council at 14:31, Tuesday 2 September 2025
FixMyStreet ref: 8108924.
Graffiti - I have become aware that a road island in the village has been over painted with a red cross which resembles a St Georges flag. This appears to be vandalism and is a road saftey issue. Whilst this used to be an proud emblem and flag of England, sadly these days this is often taken as a far right extremist symbol representing xenaphobia and racism. To me this is unacceptable in the community.
Please can you tell me when this offensive symbol will be removed and what can be done to prevent this vandalism occuring again.
Thank you for all the hard work you do.

Thank you for reporting a pothole.
First, a safety inspector will visit the location to assess whether a repair needs to be completed and plan the work needed. Works are prioritised based on the urgency of the situation. The council aim to repair all significant potholes (more than 4cm deep and 30cm wide) within 28 days.
In some cases a temporary repair will be needed, to make the area safe, then engineers will return to make a permanent repair.
We will provide updates about this report.
On our website you can read about five key actions we’re taking to strengthen the county’s roads. Visit www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/highways/roads/potholes to find out more.
Thank you again for taking the time to report this issue.

This pothole report has now been passed to the Safety Inspection Team for assessment.
A safety inspector will make an assessment of the work needed and they will consider a number of factors, including the flow of traffic and the size of the pothole.
If repair work is required, the pothole will either be classed as urgent or will be put into a planned programme of works to ensure it is repaired as efficiently as possible. We aim to complete the repair work within 28 days.
In some cases a temporary repair will be needed, to make the area safe, then engineers will return to make a permanent repair.
An update on the outcome of the safety inspection will be provided.
