Sign obstructing visibility
Reported via mobile in the Blocking visibility on road/junction category anonymously at 10:37, Saturday 30 August 2025
Sent to Gloucestershire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8094537.
At the junction of Lower Lemington/Dorn staggered crossroads on the A429 approaching Moreton from the north, whilst sat at the junction I took this picture to demonstrate the highways sign that completely blocks visibility whilst looking right (north). This sign has been there for several years and previous to this the sign overlapped the hedge which made visibility great. I believe it got knocked down by a lorry crash several years ago. When it was re-erected it was placed in its current position which is awful as it blocks line of sight down the straight. The sign is sectional and the bottom section has dropped and the only way to see past the sigh is to line up your eyes through the gap. As previously mentioned the sigh has been there for several years and annoying as it is I’ve put up with it but now my 16 year old step daughter regularly cycles to Dorn from Lower Lemington and I’m concerned for her safety. I understand that signs have to be of a certain size for A roads but this sign didn’t used to be a problem. Please can this sign be changed to one that doesn’t block the view. I’m sure it could just be loosened and slid away from the road on the guides.
