Blocked Drain filled with tarmac
Reported via mobile in the The drain is blocked category by Cllr Cheryl Agg at 15:01, Tuesday 15 July 2025
Sent to Gloucestershire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7881657.
I’ve been contacted by residents regarding ongoing drainage concerns on Greet Road, particularly near the bottom cemetery gate and outside No. 34. Several gullies in the area remain blocked—filled with tarmac left behind after previous resurfacing works.
Residents have reported the issue to various parties, including Highways, Cllr Jim Mason, the resurfacing team, and even a gully-sucker operative who acknowledged the problem but couldn’t remove the tarmac at the time. Despite assurances that it would be addressed, no action appears to have been taken.
With heavy rain, this will become a serious flooding risk. I’d be grateful if this could be investigated and resolved as a matter of urgency, including a full check of surrounding gullies that may also be affected.
Please keep me updated on next steps and any scheduled works.

Thank you for reporting a drainage or flooding issue.
We will investigate the issue. If additional clearance work is needed, the local highways team will prioritise the most urgent reports. Where possible, maintenance tasks will be grouped together in a schedule for efficiency.
Sometimes during periods of heavy rain, even a clear gully can be overwhelmed. Usually the water will drain away within an hour.
Every gully or drain the county council is responsible for is cleared at least once each year. Some drains in problem areas are cleared more frequently. You can find out more, including the gully emptying schedule on our website by visiting www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/highways/roads/road-maintenance
If your property is at risk of flooding please see the Flood Guide for advice and support by visiting www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/planning-and-environment/flood-risk-management/flooding-information/flood-guide
If you are driving: please never ignore road closures or enter flood water. This could put you or others in danger and invalidate your insurance.
We will provide updates about this report. Thank you again for taking the time to report this issue.

A resident living along Greet Road of this issue. The road sweeper has just been by and missed the gulleys which are half full of tarmac and now filling up with leaves. He is concerned about the standard of work we all pay for. He kindly provided 2 pictures for you to see.
