There are still two huge potholes around the drains near the corner of Coldicott Leys. These are full of filthy water which flows down the main road from the edge of the driveway to “Little Gidding” Rhodri has been out and inspected this. At the beginning of April, Highways put barriers around them and I was told that they would look at redirecting the spring water under the road into the existing drain network. These potholes have been patched several times in the past but this does not last because of the constantly flowing spring water. The front of my house and anyone in the front garden was getting soaked when cars hit the pothole until the barriers were erected. There are health and safety issues here and in the past couple of years two villagers have been injured during icy weather when the water freezes, one having concussion and one needing an ambulance. The issue with the spring needs addressing as a matter of urgency.

Thank you for reporting a pothole.
First, a safety inspector will visit the location to assess whether a repair needs to be completed and plan the work needed. Works are prioritised based on the urgency of the situation. The council aim to repair all significant potholes (more than 4cm deep and 30cm wide) within 28 days.
In some cases a temporary repair will be needed, to make the area safe, then engineers will return to make a permanent repair.

This pothole report has now been passed to the Safety Inspection Team for assessment.
A safety inspector will make an assessment of the work needed and they will consider a number of factors, including the flow of traffic and the size of the pothole.
If repair work is required, the pothole will either be classed as urgent or will be put into a planned programme of works to ensure it is repaired as efficiently as possible. We aim to complete the repair work within 28 days.
In some cases a temporary repair will be needed, to make the area safe, then engineers will return to make a permanent repair.
An update on the outcome of the safety inspection will be provided.
