Another pot hole in our lane

Reported via desktop in the A pothole in road category anonymously at 12:28, Monday 26 May 2025

Sent to Gloucestershire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7618049.

What three words reference: thanks.hurry.craft

This is the last photo of my multiple submission but they are by no means the only holes in the lane. In the past pot holes have been overfilled which has created their own problems. The lane has not been resurfaced for over 30 years and with a neighbour falling in one, it is now becoming a health and safety issue. There is a very poorly lady living towards the end of the lane who is undergoing treatment and finds the journey extremely uncomfortable. We might be a small lane but there are a lot of people that use it so the WHOLE lane not just patches needs to be resurfaced. I look forward to hearing from you in the very near future

Updates

  • Thank you for reporting a pothole.

First, a safety inspector will visit the location to assess whether a repair needs to be completed and plan the work needed. Works are prioritised based on the urgency of the situation. The council aim to repair all significant potholes (more than 4cm deep and 30cm wide) within 28 days.

In some cases a temporary repair will be needed, to make the area safe, then engineers will return to make a permanent repair.

We will provide updates about this report.

On our website you can read about five key actions we’re taking to strengthen the county’s roads. Visit www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/highways/roads/potholes to find out more.

Thank you again for taking the time to report this issue.

  • This pothole report has now been passed to the Safety Inspection Team for assessment.

A safety inspector will make an assessment of the work needed and they will consider a number of factors, including the flow of traffic and the size of the pothole.

If repair work is required, the pothole will either be classed as urgent or will be put into a planned programme of works to ensure it is repaired as efficiently as possible. We aim to complete the repair work within 28 days.

In some cases a temporary repair will be needed, to make the area safe, then engineers will return to make a permanent repair.

An update on the outcome of the safety inspection will be provided.

  • I am pleased to inform you this pothole has been repaired.

Gloucestershire County Council is responsible for almost 6,000km of roads and each one is routinely inspected (on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis, depending on the type of road). Issues can develop quickly in between these inspections and residents help by reporting problems online.

Our longer term plans to improve road conditions include patching, resurfacing and maintenance works, information can be found online at www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/highways.
