The whole of manor avenue has a large amount of potholes and sunken road gulleys and manhole covers
Reported via mobile in the A pothole in road category anonymously at 20:38, Tue 20 May 2025
Sent to Gloucestershire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7597308.
The whole of manor avenue has a large amount of potholes and sunken road gulleys and manhole covers, this also applies to the entrances to the estates leading off manor avenue. The whole of manor avenue is a mess as well as the estate entrances. It all needs redoing. Unbelievably one pot hole gets repaired, but the pothole next to it is left unrepaired as has been the case recently. Why is this? Example: pothole at two separate speed bumps repaired on two separate occasions, and a pothole at a third speed bump left unrepaired. Why? Who makes these decisions? Is it the contractor with the white van and white marker spray, or the highways official? The work is contracted out, and very lucrative for the contracting company. It makes sense for them not to fill all the potholes in one area. Keep the work and money flowing in at tax payers expensive. Who checks the contractors employed by the council and highways. I'm sure we are not getting value for money or a good honest job done. Tax payer getting ripped off again. I suppose it doesn't help the fact that when utility contractors and fibreoptic contractors dig up the roads and pavements, the never reinstate to a high highway standard, an attitude of "fire it in, that'll do". Who ckecks what these companies do to our roads? We are told our cars have to be fit enough to drive on the roads, and pass an MOT test to be eligible to drive on the roads, unfortunately it should be the other way around, our roads are not fit enough for our cars to travel on, unless you live in Cornwall and north Wales, whose roads are excellent, especially north Wales.

Thank you for reporting a pothole.
First, a safety inspector will visit the location to assess whether a repair needs to be completed and plan the work needed. Works are prioritised based on the urgency of the situation. The council aim to repair all significant potholes (more than 4cm deep and 30cm wide) within 28 days.
In some cases a temporary repair will be needed, to make the area safe, then engineers will return to make a permanent repair.
We will provide updates about this report.
On our website you can read about five key actions we’re taking to strengthen the county’s roads. Visit www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/highways/roads/potholes to find out more.

This pothole report has now been passed to the Safety Inspection Team for assessment.
A safety inspector will make an assessment of the work needed and they will consider a number of factors, including the flow of traffic and the size of the pothole.
If repair work is required, the pothole will either be classed as urgent or will be put into a planned programme of works to ensure it is repaired as efficiently as possible. We aim to complete the repair work within 28 days.
In some cases a temporary repair will be needed, to make the area safe, then engineers will return to make a permanent repair.
An update on the outcome of the safety inspection will be provided.
