Holding pond outlet is blocked
Reported via desktop in the The drain is blocked category anonymously at 16:13, Wednesday 14 May 2025
Sent to Gloucestershire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7569623.
The holding pond located at the entrance of Willow Close just off of Birch Road has a blocked outlet, which is need of clearing as soon as possible. In Nov 24 the pond overflowed and flooded Birch Road / Ash Close entrance area, with the flood water running down the Ash Close roadway and flooding the garden of No 7 Ash Close, with the flood water nearly breaching the front door and flooding the property. With the recent dry spell the risk of flooding will increase if the weather breaks the water will not have chance to soak into the ground and will just run off into the Holywell Orchard and enter the noted holding pond. At the moment due to the blocked outlet, there will be another food situation.

Thank you for reporting a drainage or flooding issue.
We will investigate the issue. If additional clearance work is needed, the local highways team will prioritise the most urgent reports. Where possible, maintenance tasks will be grouped together in a schedule for efficiency.
Sometimes during periods of heavy rain, even a clear gully can be overwhelmed. Usually the water will drain away within an hour.
Every gully or drain the county council is responsible for is cleared at least once each year. Some drains in problem areas are cleared more frequently. You can find out more, including the gully emptying schedule on our website by visiting www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/highways/roads/road-maintenance
If your property is at risk of flooding please see the Flood Guide for advice and support by visiting www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/planning-and-environment/flood-risk-management/flooding-information/flood-guide
If you are driving: please never ignore road closures or enter flood water. This could put you or others in danger and invalidate your insurance.
We will provide updates about this report. Thank you again for taking the time to report this issue.
