Hard to see curb
Reported via desktop in the General road markings, lines and stud issues category anonymously at 05:15, Monday 12 May 2025
Sent to Gloucestershire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7553524.
On Stroud Road, Gloucester when heading towards St Barnabas Church, there is a traffic calming measure at the roundabout with Tuffley Avenue.
This is needed to slow the traffic but it is hard to see at night and there have been a number of instances where vehicles have hit the curb.
This is causing issues with emergency service vehicles responding to 999 calls as it is an unexpected hazard that is hard to see until you are very close to it and it has caused highly trained drivers to hit the curb.
The implementation of a reflective bollard and painting the curb would prevent this from being an issue as it would highlight the hazard.
As can be seen from the photos, it is regularly hit by vehicles and this has caused damage to the curb itself.
Having the traffic calming does its job, but it is causing a hazard while doing this job and putting road users at risk without having it more visible and signage leading up to the roundabout to warn of this sticking out into the road.
