Dangerous: water flowing down 1 in 4 lane and freezing.
Reported via mobile in the The drain is blocked category anonymously at 18:53, Monday 3 February 2025
Sent to Gloucestershire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7080243.
A stream is flowing down a bridleway from fields marked on OS maps as 'The Combes' (above 'Lower Manor') and down the 1 in 4 single track road. It passes under the Great Western Railway bridge (which is could be undermining), past houses named 'Little Hattons' and 'Hattons House', around a sharp bend and then falls into the Thames and Severn Canal, which it is silting up. The canal is decommissioned but essential as a flood water passage. This water on the road freezes, swiftly washing away any grit or salt. As residents are concerned a car will skid into the canal. On 1/11/24 an ambulance team refused to use this road, deciding to walk down. The patient had to wait 7 hours before reaching hospital. We reported this issue at the time but no action seems to have been taken.

Thank you for reporting a drainage or flooding issue.
We will investigate the issue. If additional clearance work is needed, the local highways team will prioritise the most urgent reports. Where possible, maintenance tasks will be grouped together in a schedule for efficiency.
Sometimes during periods of heavy rain, even a clear gully can be overwhelmed. Usually the water will drain away within an hour.
Every gully or drain the county council is responsible for is cleared at least once each year. Some drains in problem areas are cleared more frequently. You can find out more, including the gully emptying schedule on our website by visiting www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/highways/roads/road-maintenance
If your property is at risk of flooding please see the Flood Guide for advice and support by visiting www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/planning-and-environment/flood-risk-management/flooding-information/flood-guide
If you are driving: please never ignore road closures or enter flood water. This could put you or others in danger and invalidate your insurance.
We will provide updates about this report. Thank you again for taking the time to report this issue.
