Dangerous eroded gullies in road surface. Not a pothole but a series of gullies caused by water continually runnning down the road. Not from a blocked drain but runoff from higher ground. Extremely dangerous, particularly to cyclists whose wheels could get caught in the gullies
Reported via mobile in the A pothole in road category anonymously at 11:55, Thu 12 December 2024
Sent to Gloucestershire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6853677.
Above Post office lane. This has been getting worse for at least two years, the runoff of water is almost continuous and has eroded the road surface into a series of gullies. It's extremely dangerous, cycle wheels could be caught in the gullies and cause the cyclist to be thrown into the road. And if the water freezes it could cause any vehicle to skid and crash. There are multiple reports on here but they keep getting closed down without action! They are not just potholes, please go and look! The water need to be diverted away from the road in some way before someone gets seriously injured.

Thank you for reporting a pothole.
First, a safety inspector will visit the location to assess whether a repair needs to be completed and plan the work needed. Works are prioritised based on the urgency of the situation. The council aim to repair all significant potholes (more than 4cm deep and 30cm wide) within 28 days.
In some cases a temporary repair will be needed, to make the area safe, then engineers will return to make a permanent repair.
We will provide updates about this report.
On our website you can read about five key actions we’re taking to strengthen the county’s roads. Visit www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/highways/roads/potholes to find out more.
Thank you again for taking the time to report this issue.

This pothole report has now been passed to the Safety Inspection Team for assessment.
A safety inspector will make an assessment of the work needed and they will consider a number of factors, including the flow of traffic and the size of the pothole.
If repair work is required, the pothole will either be classed as urgent or will be put into a planned programme of works to ensure it is repaired as efficiently as possible. We aim to complete the repair work within 28 days.
In some cases a temporary repair will be needed, to make the area safe, then engineers will return to make a permanent repair.
An update on the outcome of the safety inspection will be provided.
