Water covering 1/2 west bound carriageway

Reported via desktop in the No rain in 24 hours - water has increased or remained the same category anonymously at 22:22, Sunday 3 November 2024

Sent to Gloucestershire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6690519.

For past 2-3 months the water has been running down the road from Pardon Hill Farm entrance to this spot by the field gateway and flooding out to cover 1/2 the carriage way. However when it rains the flooding expands to the centre line of the carriage way and across the road to form a puddle of 1/2 the east bound carriage way as well. This is happening between a blind bend (by the junction) and a blind brow. It has been bad enough through the mild weather, but once it starts to freeze I believe there is likely to be a serious risk to road users. Regular route users seem to be slowing down as they know about it, but I have had a few near misses with oncoming traffic coming round the blind bend or over the brow. Can we at least get some road flooded and maybe some slippery warning signs out there please? Thank you.

Updates

  • Thank you for reporting a drainage or flooding issue.

We will investigate the issue. If additional clearance work is needed, the local highways team will prioritise the most urgent reports. Where possible, maintenance tasks will be grouped together in a schedule for efficiency.

Sometimes during periods of heavy rain, even a clear gully can be overwhelmed. Usually the water will drain away within an hour.

Every gully or drain the county council is responsible for is cleared at least once each year. Some drains in problem areas are cleared more frequently. You can find out more, including the gully emptying schedule on our website by visiting www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/highways/roads/road-maintenance

If your property is at risk of flooding please see the Flood Guide for advice and support by visiting www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/planning-and-environment/flood-risk-management/flooding-information/flood-guide

If you are driving: please never ignore road closures or enter flood water. This could put you or others in danger and invalidate your insurance.

We will provide updates about this report. Thank you again for taking the time to report this issue.
