Huge pothole/collapse in side of road

Reported via desktop in the A pothole in road category anonymously at 20:29, Thursday 10 October 2024

Sent to Gloucestershire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6577393.

Located before Tagmoor farm. Large part of road on left hand side of road heading towards Bourton has eroded leaving a huge pothole several metres in length with steep edge along the verge. The large amount of traffic now on this road has meant that this is not always avoidable. We hit this last week puncturing both left side tyres

Updates

  • Thank you for reporting a pothole.

First, a safety inspector will visit the location to assess whether a repair needs to be completed and plan the work needed. Works are prioritised based on the urgency of the situation. The council aim to repair all significant potholes (more than 4cm deep and 30cm wide) within 28 days.

In some cases a temporary repair will be needed, to make the area safe, then engineers will return to make a permanent repair.

We will provide updates about this report.

  • This pothole report has now been passed to the Safety Inspection Team for assessment.

A safety inspector will make an assessment of the work needed and they will consider a number of factors, including the flow of traffic and the size of the pothole.

If repair work is required, the pothole will either be classed as urgent or will be put into a planned programme of works to ensure it is repaired as efficiently as possible. We aim to complete the repair work within 28 days.

In some cases a temporary repair will be needed, to make the area safe, then engineers will return to make a permanent repair.

An update on the outcome of the safety inspection will be provided.
