Rain water drain manhole cover is still popping up after rain and water is flowing down the pavement
Reported via mobile in the The drain is blocked category by Carl Binns at 13:34, Friday 27 September 2024
Sent to Gloucestershire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6523791.
On the corner of Driffield Road and Highfield Road, Lydney, close to a mail box. This issue has been ongoing for 18-24 months and has been reported by me a number of times. Elderly people are having to dig drainage ditches in the verge to divert the water from their front doors, and every time the problem happens there's a trail of mud left along the pavement. Previous report number: 11430103. Last e-mail from Clive Saunders on 20-12-2023
"Good afternoon Mr Binns I refer to your enquiry regarding the drainage at the junction of Driffield rd Lydney. Investigation so far as shown there is a reducer in the pipeline which blocks quite easily during heavy storms, each time then we have to get a jetter on site to clear through. I have carried out CCTV on drainage pipes in the area and am looking to have the water flow redirected towards the A48 and not down Highfield Hill. Works have been raised for test holes onto these pipes before I can alter any flow direction. Regards Clive"

Thank you for reporting a drainage or flooding issue.
We will investigate the issue. If additional clearance work is needed, the local highways team will prioritise the most urgent reports. Where possible, maintenance tasks will be grouped together in a schedule for efficiency.
Sometimes during periods of heavy rain, even a clear gully can be overwhelmed. Usually the water will drain away within an hour.
Every gully or drain the county council is responsible for is cleared at least once each year. Some drains in problem areas are cleared more frequently. You can find out more, including the gully emptying schedule on our website by visiting www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/highways/roads/road-maintenance
If your property is at risk of flooding please see the Flood Guide for advice and support by visiting www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/planning-and-environment/flood-risk-management/flooding-information/flood-guide
If you are driving: please never ignore road closures or enter flood water. This could put you or others in danger and invalidate your insurance.
We will provide updates about this report. Thank you again for taking the time to report this issue.
