Glebe road flood, threat to health and properties.
Reported via mobile in the The drain is blocked category anonymously at 15:37, Monday 23 September 2024
Sent to Gloucestershire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6505434.
Drains are ineffective, have now been informed by a worker from highways agency contractor who was working on the road flood issue that the drains have collapsed and it has been known for some time after highways conducted an investigation, dates to be confirmed. Water has now reached into properties, drives ways and gardens, some of which are now starting to flood, this is from the water from the road. This is happening now as the water has no place to go and has found the easiest route to the excessive amount of water. The fresh water valves into the properties are filled with dirty water, oil is also present in the flood water .This could lead to fresh water issues if there are any undetected leaks, properties also have young babies and people with health problems. Now having to boil water to ensure it is safe for consumption for the moment. This issue has now gotten to a point where health could be a concern and this has been going on for 5 years.since I've been living here and before me. The flooding is now so serve when vehicles where driving through it where causing bow waves and the water was washing right up to the occupiers front doors. Road has now been closed but the water is still rising and there are no provisions, sand bags to stop the water from rising any further on the properties.

Thank you for reporting a drainage or flooding issue.
We will investigate the issue. If additional clearance work is needed, the local highways team will prioritise the most urgent reports. Where possible, maintenance tasks will be grouped together in a schedule for efficiency.
Sometimes during periods of heavy rain, even a clear gully can be overwhelmed. Usually the water will drain away within an hour.
Every gully or drain the county council is responsible for is cleared at least once each year. Some drains in problem areas are cleared more frequently. You can find out more, including the gully emptying schedule on our website by visiting www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/highways/roads/road-maintenance
If your property is at risk of flooding please see the Flood Guide for advice and support by visiting www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/planning-and-environment/flood-risk-management/flooding-information/flood-guide
If you are driving: please never ignore road closures or enter flood water. This could put you or others in danger and invalidate your insurance.
We will provide updates about this report. Thank you again for taking the time to report this issue.
