Surface Water Flooding
Reported via mobile in the The drain is blocked category anonymously at 09:56, Saturday 21 September 2024
Sent to Gloucestershire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6496709.
The drain outside 3 Hatherley Brake is failing to deal with the surface water which falls to this drain from over half of the cul de sac. The alternate drains are ineffective due to the gradients and both 3 and 4 are suffering localised flooding whenever heavy rain occurs. Currently it is taking many hours to recede and the rain resulted id 3 inches of water right up to and around 3, together with significant water across the frontage of4. Whilst the current rain is excessive this is a common problem whenever it rains heavily and I have previously reported it to Severn Trent to no avail.

Thank you for reporting a drainage or flooding issue.
We will investigate the issue. If additional clearance work is needed, the local highways team will prioritise the most urgent reports. Where possible, maintenance tasks will be grouped together in a schedule for efficiency.
Sometimes during periods of heavy rain, even a clear gully can be overwhelmed. Usually the water will drain away within an hour.
Every gully or drain the county council is responsible for is cleared at least once each year. Some drains in problem areas are cleared more frequently. You can find out more, including the gully emptying schedule on our website by visiting www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/highways/roads/road-maintenance
If your property is at risk of flooding please see the Flood Guide for advice and support by visiting www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/planning-and-environment/flood-risk-management/flooding-information/flood-guide
If you are driving: please never ignore road closures or enter flood water. This could put you or others in danger and invalidate your insurance.
We will provide updates about this report. Thank you again for taking the time to report this issue.
