Uneven road sign
Reported via desktop in the A pothole in road category anonymously at 18:49, Sunday 15 September 2024
Sent to Gloucestershire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6474413.
The last time any pothole repairs were done here, a temporary sign of "uneven road" was also delivered the next day. It is placed on a grassy bank, and is always toppling over, so no driver can see it. As there are multiple potholes (across the entire width of this narrow lane, stretching from the drive to Grove Lodge to the entrance to Grove View), and it is impossible to avoid driving into them due to the narrow width of the roadway, the lack of a visible warning notice results in a genuine hazard to users. This is especially true for those unfamiliar with this dreadful stretch of public highway, and who are riding bikes or walking. Many potholes are more than 60mm deep, and when full of water after a rainfall they are impossible to detect. There is a genuine risk to public saftey.

Thank you for reporting a pothole.
First, a safety inspector will visit the location to assess whether a repair needs to be completed and plan the work needed. Works are prioritised based on the urgency of the situation. The council aim to repair all significant potholes (more than 4cm deep and 30cm wide) within 28 days.
In some cases a temporary repair will be needed, to make the area safe, then engineers will return to make a permanent repair.
We will provide updates about this report.
On our website you can read about five key actions we’re taking to strengthen the county’s roads. Visit www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/highways/roads/potholes to find out more.
Thank you again for taking the time to report this issue.

This pothole report has now been passed to the Safety Inspection Team for assessment.
A safety inspector will make an assessment of the work needed and they will consider a number of factors, including the flow of traffic and the size of the pothole.
If repair work is required, the pothole will either be classed as urgent or will be put into a planned programme of works to ensure it is repaired as efficiently as possible. We aim to complete the repair work within 28 days.
In some cases a temporary repair will be needed, to make the area safe, then engineers will return to make a permanent repair.
An update on the outcome of the safety inspection will be provided.
