Appalling Standard of Repair to Sunken Road Issue (previously reported)

Reported via desktop in the A pothole in road category anonymously at 18:38, Tuesday 3 September 2024

Sent to Gloucestershire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6432700.

What three words, approx: ///invoices.held.glosses (the same location as previously reported on the B4077).

This sunken road area has been 'repaired' to an appalling standard and now we have a raised 'sleeping policeman' to drive over that will likely cause damage to suspension, steering or other vehicular components. It is simply not good enough nor is it safe and posses a risk to drivers and vehicles driving at speed. Another surface repair, likely by the same team, was done a few hundred yards further on, on the other side of the road in the direction of Toddington....again the execution sub standard.

Today I witnessed a car infront of me come to a rolling stop shortly after driving over the raised hump at speed, forced to stop on a sharp corner. I suspect this bad repair has damaged the drivers vehicle but due to the flow of traffic / logistics I could not stop to help.

This repair should be redone as a matter of urgency.

Updates

  • Thank you for reporting a pothole.

First, a safety inspector will visit the location to assess whether a repair needs to be completed and plan the work needed. Works are prioritised based on the urgency of the situation. The council aim to repair all significant potholes (more than 4cm deep and 30cm wide) within 28 days.

In some cases a temporary repair will be needed, to make the area safe, then engineers will return to make a permanent repair.

We will provide updates about this report.
