Whole street requires resurfacing
Reported via desktop in the A pothole in road category anonymously at 16:31, Tuesday 27 August 2024
Sent to Gloucestershire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6404022.
This close has never been resurfaced since it was laid in the 1960's and is now worn to the substrate level, which in turn is now cracking and breaking up. Numerous potholes keep reappearing and the bottom half of the Close (along with the pavement) has recently been dug up to lay communications lines leaving another mess. All the pavement slabs are broken and are lifting causing trip hazards. the close is occupied mainly by middle aged homeowners and mothers with children who have difficulty using the pavements, if my wife falls again there will be claims raised. This close is on my local MP's 'grot list' but still nothing has been done. Surely it is more economical to resurface the road rather than having 3/4 visits (at least) a year to fix? If there is no intention to deliver services that have been paid for by our taxes, please advise if there is a mechanism whereby local residents can 'co-fund' these repairs with the Council. Thank you

Thank you for reporting a pothole.
First, a safety inspector will visit the location to assess whether a repair needs to be completed and plan the work needed. Works are prioritised based on the urgency of the situation. The council aim to repair all significant potholes (more than 4cm deep and 30cm wide) within 28 days.
In some cases a temporary repair will be needed, to make the area safe, then engineers will return to make a permanent repair.
We will provide updates about this report.

This pothole report has now been passed to the Safety Inspection Team for assessment.
A safety inspector will make an assessment of the work needed and they will consider a number of factors, including the flow of traffic and the size of the pothole.
If repair work is required, the pothole will either be classed as urgent or will be put into a planned programme of works to ensure it is repaired as efficiently as possible. We aim to complete the repair work within 28 days.
In some cases a temporary repair will be needed, to make the area safe, then engineers will return to make a permanent repair.
An update on the outcome of the safety inspection will be provided.
