Greetings and G’Day,
Apologies for the length of my email but I wanted to give you as much information as possible.
BACKGROUND
A few months ago, I was awoken by the Police at 0530 in the morning and they advised me that the BT cable which comes from a BT wooden pole on the opposite side of Highgrove Way to the side of my house had come down.
This cable passes through a large London tree at the entrance to Frobisher Mews. I had previously advised Highways of this as the branches of the trees were bashing the cable but no action was taken by AMEY who were the contractors employed at that time.
I also advised that the lower branches of the 2 London trees were hitting vehicles. This was worse during the spring to autumn months due to the weight of the leaves and seed pods plus of course rain and wind. I ended up trimming the lower branches of the trees myself which was far from easy so vehicles could park up and go in and out the Mews without being hit anymore. AMEY later trimmed some branches which were over the lamp post light by the main road. I also advised that there was also a future problem looming as the block paving at the entrance to the Mews was being pushed up by the roots of the tree.
Roots were cut out of the tree by the entrance to the Mews where there were extensive cracks in the pavement and tarmac re-laid. Roots were also cut out from the 2nd tree as the they had significantly pushed up the block paving.
There are now further problems with both these trees which I will cover individually below:
